Hello. My name is Ben Witt.

I am a massage therapist who works with all levels of Marathon Runners to help them maintain performance, reduce pain, and recover from injury by putting their bodies into a more natural alignment.

Call me to discuss how Marathon Massage Therapy can improve your athletic performance!

About me:

I decided to become a massage therapist while I was getting a massage.

I had recently quit my high-school teaching job and my lovely wife purchased a massage gift certificate for me to use at her preferred salon.  Once on the table, I began to think about what it might be like to be a massage therapist--dark, quiet, helping others with stress and pain, & learning about the body.  It was a big change from teaching high school French!

Since finishing massage school, I have been a practicing massage on my own, as Witt Massage Therapy.  After some reflection and business coaching, I decided to combine my love of running with my love of helping others through massage--and POOF!--Marathon Massage Therapy was born.

I live in the Fondren area of Jackson with my wife and 8 year old son.  I enjoy running and playing the bass guitar in a band with some other groovy dads.

MY RUNNING STORY

collage-2017-10-19.jpg

In February 2015, it was time for a physical and mental change.  I was unhappy in my job and physically suffering from a lifetime of poor habits.  I was encouraged to join a program called Marathon Makeover--a couch to half or full marathon program.  With the help of the program, I changed my habits and began to exercise and eat healthier.  I ran a 5k, then a 10k, and finally the Wounded Warrior Half-Marathon in June, but I couldn't stop there.  I wanted more.

I quit my job, but I continued the program, running through the rest of the Summer and into Fall. In October of 2015, I ran the Seven Bridges Marathon in Chattanooga, TN (time 4:19).

Growing up, I did not play any sports, but at 35 years old, I accomplished something amazing.  Since then, my running schedule has had its ups and downs.  I am working on regaining my own good running habits and I hope that I can help others who are doing the same.
